A Home of Our Own!

YAY!  

We finally found it, a home of our own.  And boy, wasn't it a fun search.  At times it was a bit discouraging with the Real Estate prices here compared to Oklahoma and Texas in the back of our heads .... but there is definitely a price to pay for the quality of life here in the Rockies.  And it is all worth it.  At first we thought we wanted an older home in one of the charming neighborhoods close to downtown, but then reality set in.  We get get twice the size for the same price with everything brand new, big closets, a pantry, extra storage, new appliances, fresh floors and carpets, new bathrooms,  a garage that fits two cars, an unfinished basement, shopping close by, and ... downtown only ten minutes away.  You've guessed it - we went with the NEW!  Our new neighborhood is the master planned community of Stapleton - the old airport area of Denver!  We will have the world at our fingertips :)

We got really lucky, and we were able to snag a lot that has bigger yard than normal!! Yay, of course it came at a premium, but it is worth the extra 7 feet for Frankie.  He is so excited about his new home!!!   Talk about timing, we went under contract at just the right time.  We were able to do the electrical walk and pre-dry wall walk with the Construction Superintendent just a few days after signing.  We took pictures of where the air ducts are so we make sure not to hang anything there - who would have thought?! They also ordered the cabinets that we wanted before we signed, and we are able to change some of the interior upgrades.  We have to do it fast, as the drywall is already up.  I guess that is a good thing considering I am so quick with decisions, haha.  Our house will be done the end of April, so only two more months!  This means we will be able to get the Tax Credit - the only good thing about this Mr. Obama guy!  Think of all the possibilities of the tax credit ... Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, Vegas, NYC, Cali, Florida, a new TV, Furniture, a stash for finishing the basement .... OR some new blinds and a fridge!  Hooray for being domestic and in debt.  

Really though, we can't wait.  I will be sad to leave our little place - it has been so great to us for our "first home."  It will be a bitter sweet day come moving day!  Here it is ..... our very first, own home!
